#100 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
This is the last challenge for 2022, thanks to everyone who’s supported us throughout the year and looking forward to seeing your makes in 2023.
No Christmas themed card from me – I’m frantically trying to finish making them before the postal deadline!
Every week I go to an exercise class for people over 50, I’ve been going since 2019 although we had to stop during the lockdowns. The instructor is in his 70s and he’s a great guy, he makes the class enjoyable and stresses that we’re only to do what we feel able to. We usually have a break over Christmas but he’s had to do an extended one as he’s having a knee operation. We all decided to give him a card wishing him a speedy recovery and I offered to make one.

I had to make a quick card (we only had one class left) so it’s just a simple image with a music themed border (we exercise to music) and lots of layers. The white and red layer is an optical illusion. The red is a thin strip with a border cut out of one side but it makes it look like two separate layers in white and red.
Items used:
Serif Craft Artist: the music notes are from several kits – Sweet Melody, Name That Tune and Nut Cracker Christmas. All recoloured and made into a border.
The main image is a Purple Ronnie digi called Get Well.
Dies used: Tonic Studios English Picnic Layering die set and Paula Pascaul’s Honeycomb Edge Builder (for the red strips)
The challenge will close on Saturday 24th December 2022 at 1pm.
Don't forget that the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is now about making items using something printed from a craft CD Rom, USB or digital download. You can use other craft items on your card/project, such as a stamp or die, but you must include something printed from the new categories. You must also make a physical item and not a digital one. In your blog post/Facebook entry you must give the name of the printed item you've used.
We also have a FaceBook page if you don't have a blog The CD Sunday Plus Challenge.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - see you all in four weeks!

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
A very quick, simple card from me this time. I’ve spent so long helping a friend with her new flat that I’ve not had time for crafting!
This card is for my youngest brother who likes to play guitar.

I designed the backing paper in Serif Craft Artist using music notes from a Kate Hadfield digi kit called Big School. The notes were originally black and I tried to recolour them using the Colour Picker but because they were such a dark colour you couldn’t see the new colour. So I tried the Styles tab/Instant Effects scrolled down to Plastic and it worked a treat!
Items used:
Serif Craft Artist/ Kate Hadfield digi kit called Big School, Cuttlebug embossing folder - Allegro, Tonic Studios Electric Guitar die and a sentiment die from Paper Boutique.
The challenge will close on Saturday 10th December 2022 at 1pm.

#No:98 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

This is the second of my Halloween makes. As I mentioned in my last blog post I haven’t been able to show it before now as it’s one of my design team entries.
As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I made this for a card swap I’m in on a forum – the theme was Spooky so I just had to make something for Halloween.

As this is meant to look like a book I used thick card stock in black for the ‘cover’ and ran it through an embossing folder to look like creases in an old leather book cover. I didn’t take a photo as, with it being black, it didn’t make for a very interesting photo!

Items used:
Carnation Crafts: Wedding Volume, Pumpkin Corner, Quiet Retreat and Flourished Floral die sets cut from their 2021 Halloween bundle vignettes. Bats, skeleton and web cut from A little Spooked die set and vignettes of the same name.
Tonic Studios: Nuvo Glow in the Dark Drops added to the pumpkin eyes.
Crafter’s Companion: Lightning embossing folder.
The challenge will close on Saturday 26th November 2022 at 1pm.

#No:97 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

Thanks to everyone who entered the CD Sunday Plus Challenge over the last two weeks. I was host so I get to pick the Top Three. We had lots of Halloween themed entries and as I love Halloween I’m going to find it difficult to narrow it down to just three! I made several Halloween items but as they’re my design team makes I haven’t been able to blog them. The first one is my card for today and I’ll use the others over the next two challenges.
As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I’ve recently joined a new card swap on Facebook. It’s called Card Exchange and the admin is Linda Trigg if anyone is interested in joining in. It’s only been running since September so there’s only about seven members at the moment.
The theme for October was to make a multi-tiered pop-up card. I’d never seen one before but there’s plenty of videos on YouTube. The one I followed was to make a card that fits a 6x6 envelope but after making a prototype from white card I decided to make a larger one that fitted an 8x8 envelope.

After cutting out all the pieces it’s easier to cover them with backing papers before joining it all together. It’s not as difficult to make as it looks and it’s great for displaying all the decorations. I don’t think it will be the last one I make.
Lots of photos showing the coffins on the sides and the various layers.

Items used:
Backing papers: All were designed by a friend who used to offer them as downloads for free on his blog, Sadly his blog has been dormant for many years and he now longer designs any crafting things.
Carnation Crafts: Wedding Volume, Pumpkin Corner, Season Décor die sets cut from their 2021 Halloween bundle vignettes. A Little Spooked die set cut from the vignettes of the same name.
Tonic Studios: The RIP is from the Spooky Coffin Treat Box die set.
The challenge will close on Saturday 12th November 2022 at 1pm.

#96 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

It’s my turn to host the CD Sunday Plus Challenge for the next two weeks. I always like to make something a bit different/special when I’m hosting and the last day of the challenge is also my birthday, so it had to be extra, extra special - I think I’ve managed that LOL!
I was looking through some old magazines and came across a fairground carousel in a Hunkdory magazine. The download is from the Craftworld website and is available as a template and SVG files. I didn’t follow the instructions completely as I used card from my stash and not what came with the magazine. I also didn’t use the stamps supplied as they were a unicorn and I wanted a proper carousel horse. I knew I had a stamp and matching carousel horse die in my stash so used those.

I ran the red card through an embossing folder but it had a white core so I rubbed a wax over it to knock it back a bit. I then used gold peel-offs along the edges and between each section.
The centre pole is the inner of a roll of clingfilm covered in gold card and sparkly gold peel offs wrapped around it. The base is also covered in gold corner peel offs – they fitted around all the poles perfectly. The pole that the horses are attached too are paper straws that have peel offs wound around them in corresponding colours. Once I’d stamped and die cut the horses I the rubbed wax over them which highlights the embossed areas.
The base is in two halves so the carousel can be turned. I went a bit crazy with star peel offs on the base. Well I have to use them up somehow LOL! I’ve wound tiny lights around the inside of the base but didn’t glue them so they can be removed if they ever break.
Finally I added a ‘knob’ on the very top to make it easier to turn the carousel. It’s made from a plastic ferrel painted red. It’s what they put on the end of metal chair legs to stop them scratching the floor. They can also be found on the end of a walking stick!
Photos of each of the horses and a video of me turning it around!

Items used:
Creative Expressions: Necessities – Carousel Animals Dies (CED23042) and Carousel Clear Stamp Set (CEC938).
Hunkydory: Red pearl card.
From stash: gold card, peel offs, wax, paper straws, and lights.
Special mention for my neighbour who saved the inner of her cling film for me LOL!
The challenge will close on Saturday 29th October 2022 at 1pm.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
Back in 2018 I made a birdhouse instead of a card for my husband’s birthday. Little did I know it would be the last birthday I would make anything for him. The original blog post can be found here.
The template and papers are by MJM Design Studios on Etsy. This time I used the papers supplied in the download except for the roof where I used the papers from a Crafter’s Companion CD Rom with Issue 17 of their Inspiration Magazine.

The sparkly paper used around the front edge of the roof and the ridge is from my stash.

#94 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The UK is currently mourning the loss of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II. It's been such a sad time for us. Tomorrow is the state funeral and many more tears will be shed. She's now reunited with her husband. Rest in Peace your Majesty.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
My 11 year old great nephew has, in the last year, taken up learning the electric guitar. There was only one theme that I needed to use for his card!

I made the pop-up box from scratch. I do have a die that was free in a magazine but I wanted a bigger box. The paper is one I designed in Craft Artist. I picked out music notes from various digi kits, recoloured them as they were black, grouped them and then copy and pasted them to fill the page.
The guitar die cut was glued to the back with the rest glued to acetate strips ad spaced out across the top of the box.The keyboards, which I used three times, were all meticulously paper pieced!

Items used:
Serif Craft Artist digikits: Name That Tune, Nutcracker Christmas, Sweet Melody (music notes that have been recoloured).
Tonic Studio: several sets of music related dies from a few years ago.
Paper Boutique Sentiments Dies Vol XX

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I made this card for an ex-colleague/friend of my late husband’s – she loves shoes and handbags! Anyone who knows Carnation Crafts will instantly recognise this as one of their designs.

It’s a fairly basic card just a couple of layers of pink card topped with a die cut lacey frame and then the shoe and handbag vignettes cut out using the matching dies. I didn’t like the colour of the shoe heel so coloured it in using an alcohol marker. I finished off with loads of clear gems and pink flat backed pearls in different shades of pink.

Items used:
Carnation Crafts - Perfect Accessories Rose Shoe and Rose Handbag downloadable vignettes and die sets, Square Frame die set. Summer Daze Perfect Papers (which is actually 300gsm card) for the pink layers and green for the frame.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
Thanks to everyone who joined in with the last challenge. As I was host it’s down to me to pick the Top Three makes.
My last card was made from items I’d found lurking on my desk unused and so is this one!

The pale brown backing paper was printed from a Carnation Crafts Collection and has been over stamped using a Craftascope stamp. The dark brown strip is left over from a crafting session when I was trying to reproduce a bokeh effect using white ink and stamps.
At the time of making this card I’d just bought a new, to me, flower stamp and die set and just had to use it on this card! It’s stamped onto white vellum using Versamark ink and gold embossing powder. I then coloured the back of the vellum with brown ink so it would fit in with the colour scheme of the card. I added some gold and brown half pearls to finish off the card.

Items used:
Carnation Crafts downloadable vignette Into Spring.
Craftascope A5 Media Stamps Retro Vibes.
Lawn Fawn Let’s Bokeh stamps.
Chloe’s Creative Cards Grande Christmas Rose stamp and dies set and Luxury White Vellum.
Colourbox Chalk Ink in Chestnut Brown.
Heat It Up Enchanted Gold embossing powder.
Creative Crafting World gold and brown half pearls.
Tattered Lave vertical sentiment.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I’m hosting the challenge this fortnight and this card came about after a tidy up of my desk LOL! I’d printed off a couple of designs from a USB but hadn’t used them all. This one is far too pretty to be left lurking on my desk! It had been printed onto Pro Print paper which really makes the colours stand out.

I then printed out two pink papers from another USB to cut the ringlet dies out off. I thought the two shades of pink were the perfect match for the pinks in the background paper. From what was left I made the three flowers using a cut and emboss folder and the sentiment.

The card is finished off with Tonic Nuvo Drops which was almost a disaster! The colour I first used was translucent and too orange, so I went over the top with another colour and held my breath until they were dry – thankfully they turned out OK!

Items used:

Imagination Crafts Mixed Media Rice Papers Vol 3 USB.
Create and Craft Linen Card USB.
Anna Marie Designs Dottie Ringlets and Dottie Sprigs.
Chloe Creative Cards Summer Flower Cut and Emboss Folder.
Paper Boutique Sentiments Vol XX.
Nuvo Drops - Jewel Drops in Rosewater, Crystal Drops in Carnation Pink covered in Jewel Drops in Pink Aura.

Even if you’re not British I’m sure it was known worldwide that our Queen celebrated her Platinum Jubilee in June -70 years as our Queen! I love the pomp and ceremony that goes with all things royal and had a wonderful time making ATCs for a swap which had the Platinum Jubilee as its theme. We’re supposed to make two ATCs but I enjoyed this so much I made 10!

#89 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
One of my nieces adores cats as much as I do so I have a very enjoyable time making her birthday card every year. Her cat is called Tabby and he looks very much like the tabby in this design.

This style of card is known by several names – Diamond Point, Crossover Pointy, Triple Point, Triple Point Crossover and I’m sure there’s a few more! I like it because you can use the central area to display the main focus of the card. In this case it’s the sweet cat which is just like the look on Tabby cat’s face at times!

I’m sure it didn’t register with my niece but my fellow crafters will have noticed that the design on the two triangle pieces perfectly match the background design. I had to use three 8 by 8 pieces of patterned paper to achieve this. If it had been a paper kit it would have used up nearly all of this design but with it being a USB it means we can print off as many pieces as we need.

Items used:
Creative Crafting World: The Paper Pantry USB Vol VI using the ‘It’s A Cat’s Life’ collection. Originally this came out as a paper pack now is now on a USB. The plain navy blue papers are from the coloured card collection that came out with the paper pack. The Happy Birthday inside the card is from The Paper Boutique Sentiments Vol II dies.
Presscut: Stitched Dot Circle dies.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I belong to two ATC swap groups and at the moment I’m thoroughly enjoying the monthly themes. A recent one was ‘die-cuts’ and I have many dies that are small enough to fit on an ATC. I buy lots of craft magazines and if the gift is a die then they tend to be quite small so I’ve built up quite a collection. All I needed to add was a background, created in Serif Craft Artist, to make a scene for the die cut to sit on.
This is a group photo of all the ATCs – further down this post I’ve added individual photos with a description of what I’ve used.

The challenge will close on Saturday 9th July 2022 at 1pm.

I've not listed the dies I've used as they won't be available to buy with them being free with craft magazines.

These two are my favourites! The background was created in Serif Craft Artist using the digi kit Rosebudds Garden. That's not a spelling mistake for Rosebudd it's how Polkadoodles named their kit.

Then these are my second favourites! The background on the green bicycle is from Craftscapes Italian Escape digi kit. The red one from Victoria Nelson’s Enchanted Ruin digi kit and the fence is from Craftscapes Riverside Walk.

Sheep background - CraftScapes Country Garden. Rabbit and hedgehog background - Rosebudds Garden

The globe is a Kate Hadfield digi kit called Big School. The background for the card scene is from Coffee and Catch up digi kit.

This one isn't a Craft Artist design. The dols are images from a My Craft Studio CD called A Little Bit Folk and I had outline dies that fitted them perfectly!

The next six don't have digital elements but I though you might want to see them.

Altogether I made 16 - the swap only asks for two LOL!!!!
