Fezziwig's Festive Frolics - entry No.2

This is my second card for the Fezziwig’s Festive Frolics blog challenge which ends tomorrow (Tuesday 27th). Each challenge runs for two weeks and this time the theme is ‘Deer’ – it has to be a Christmas card that has a deer on it somewhere.
Another Carnation Crafts card! This time I’ve used the Season’s Greetings Quick Card die set. Using the base card die in this set you can make a small quick card. I haven’t used the base card die, instead I’ve layered it onto a green snowflake paper that was downloaded from Carnation Crafts web site.

I’ve used a 5x7 inch base card from Creative Crafting World. It’s meant to be a landscape card blank but I’ve turned it to be portrait with the spine at the top. The green card used for the mats is from my stash and I’ve used Tonic Nuvo Drops in Woodland Green in the centres of the snowflakes.

That’s four Christmas cards I’ve made now – thanks Hazel!

Fezziwigs Festive Frolics entry No. 1

I’m trying very hard to make a few Christmas cards during the year rather than rush to make them all during December. I’m being helped in that quest by the Fezziwig’s Festive Frolics blog challenge run by my friend Hazel. Each challenge runs for two weeks and this time the theme is ‘Deer’ – it has to be a Christmas card that has a deer on it somewhere.
I’m a huge fan of Carnation Crafts dies and downloadable vignettes – you can’t fail to make a nice card using them.

For this card I used the Triple Panel Card Shape dies to cut out the base card and filigree mats. The green card was left over from a previous make – half a sheet of A4 that was sitting on my desk so I put it to good use! The deer are also Carnation Crafts dies and vignettes called Magnes and Maya that I’ve layered up. Isn’t that stag a magnificent looking beast!

The sentiment is from The Paper Boutique.
The challenge ends tomorrow (Tuesday) and I have another entry but I’m waiting for the Nuvo drops to dry on it.

#59 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The theme, as usual, is Anything Goes at the CD Sunday Plus Challenge. You must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one

On one of the craft forums I belong to we have a card swap every other month. The theme for February was Friendship and I knew I had a Jayne Nestorenko stamp that would be perfect. I don’t stamp very often other than for sentiments as I’m not particularly good at colouring. I used watercolour pencils and colours that would fit in with the flowers I wanted to use.

I covered the card blank with pink backing paper downloaded from Carnation Crafts and positioned the stamped image where it would fit in the gap in the flowers.

I die cut 2 of the card shape downloadable vignettes, turning one around so it made a frame around the stamped image. I then die cut other flowers to fill in any gaps, using Pinflair Glue Gel to add height. I finished the card with 3 pink gems in the corners of the die cut card shape.

Items used:
Creative Crafting World 8x8 inch card blank.
Jayne Nestorenko ‘Apple of My Eye’ stamp set (free with a craft magazine).
Carnation Crafts Floral Card Shape Die Set, Decoupage Flower Die Set and downloadable vignettes and backing paper.
Pink pearls from my stash.

The challenge will close on Saturday 8th May 2021 at 1pm.

Don't forget that the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is now about making items using something printed from a craft CD Rom, USB or digital download. You can use other craft items on your card/project, such as a stamp or die, but you must include something printed from the new categories. You must also make a physical item and not a digital one. In your blog post/Facebook entry you must give the name of the printed item you've used.

We also have a Facebook page if you don't have a blog - The CD Sunday Plus Challenge

#58 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The theme, as usual, is Anything Goes at the CD Sunday Plus Challenge. You must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one. I’ve combined this with the current challenge at Fezziwigs Festive Frolics which has the theme of Santa Says.

Regular followers may recognise this card as I made a similar one back in 2015 (click here to see the original).

Using Serif Craft Artist the central topper for this card was in the ready made Christmas card section of the digi kit Hearts and Roses by Hearts Designs. But it was surrounded by a horrible backing paper that was cream with green dots. As with the original card I used a much nicer backing paper by Victoria Nelson in her Christmas Bouquet digi kit.

I did things a little differently to the original card I colourised the frame to be brown – the original was black. And I recoloured the background to be similar to the greens in the backing paper. Since 2015 I’ve learnt how to use the colour picker in Craft Artist! I also put text along the banner this time and I included mats in a deep pink similar to the pink in the backing paper.

Items used:
Serif Craft Artist – Hearts and Roses by Hearts Designs and Christmas Bouquet by Victoria Nelson.
Tonic Studios - Craft Perfect card in Raspberry Pink and Nuvo Crystal Drops in Pink Orchid.

The challenge will close on Saturday 24th April 2021 at 1pm.
