#171 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

Anyone who knows me will know that I LOVE HALLOWEEN! And as I’m now into making 3d items then Halloween is the perfect time to make something other than a card.
As soon as I saw the Craftwork Castle Gift Box Die Set (5874e) from Tonic Studios I knew it would be perfect to turn into a Halloween project for the bimonthly swap I’m in. It took me an age to make just the basic castle – the decorations were the easy part! All the characters are from various Carnation Crafts vignettes and die sets.

The centre tower (with the flying mouse) hides a treat box. I put Welsh cakes in there as my local shop didn’t have any Halloween sweets. The person I sent it too enjoyed the Welsh cakes! Her granddaughters begged her to let them have it for Halloween next year. She told them they could borrow it but had to look after it and return it to her to keep.

As usual the theme is Anything Goes at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge.  Remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.

The challenge will close on Saturday 22 November 2025 at 1pm.

#142 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme is Anything Goes at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
My nephew and his teenage son like going to Monster Jam at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Monster Jam is where the really huge jeeps etc go over obstacle courses. They really are ‘monster’ trucks! This year there’s a Monster Jam World Tour so they bought the t-shirts to wear to their night in Cardiff. As it was my great nephew’s birthday a couple of weeks afterwards I decided to design his birthday card around the Monster Jam logo. I asked my nephew to take a photo of the t-shirt so I could use it on the card and this is what I came up with.

I edited the photo so I just had the Monster Jam World Tour image and printed it onto a transparent self-adhesive sheet. I printed a jumper from a My Craft Studio USB, stuck the image onto it and then used the matching die to cut it out. It took four attempts to get the sizing and placement right but I persevered. I then added a couple of mats and foam pads to raise the ‘jumper’ up a little.
Items used:
My Craft Studio: Craft Master A Jumper For All Seasons USB.
Splash Crafts: Easy Peely Transparent Self – Adhesive Sticker Sheets.
Tonic Studios: Classic Card in Pewter Grey.
Green card from my stash.

The challenge will close on Saturday 28th September 2024 at 1pm.

#140 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge.

As usual the theme is Anything Goes at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
My lovely next door neighbour has just come home from hospital after an operation. She was diagnosed 11 years ago and has been on the waiting list for the past three years. After waiting so long the operation was a major one and took longer than usual. What is happening with our NHS?

I made her a Get Well card and a flower arrangement with Forever Flowerz.

I turned to DoCrafts Digital Designer for this card – I haven’t used it for quite some time. The folder I used is Tulip and Friends. With the Digital Designer you can design the card on screen and print it onto card then fold it in half and you’re done. I didn’t want to make a flat card though so I printed the elements separately, cut them out and layered them up. The flowers have been in my stash for many years but they had dark purple centres. I removed them and added clear dew drops.
The sentiment is from Tonic Studios – Get Well Sentiment Strip Die. And I finished the card off with some lilac gems.
These are the Forever Flowers I made:

#133 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

It’s my turn to host the challenge and pick the Top Three.
As usual the theme is Anything Goes at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I made a ‘twofer’! Two cards for the price of one LOL!
The card swap I’m in had a theme of Spring Flowers but sadly only three of us were able to enter this time. I suggested that we made two cards so that we each received two cards back. I didn’t have much time to make my cards before I went visiting relatives for a few weeks. I decided the best thing to do would be to make similar cards.

I’ve used the card base dies previously and really like the shape. I then added die cut crocus, bluebells, tulips and daffodils. I’d cut into the die cuts to layer up the design.
Items used:
Carnation Crafts: Into Spring Card Shape dies, Crocus Chorus dies, Bluebell Delight dies, Daffodil Daydream dies Arrangement Maker dies and all the relevant vignettes from Carnation Crafts.
Tonic Studios: Craft Perfect Buttermilk Yellow card stock.
Craft Artist: Essential card in Coconut White.

#131 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

This is the second card I made in January when I had some spare time and had a play/experiment with some of my rarely used stash such as stencils, texture pastes, paints and wooden embellishments.
I made this for someone who likes to sew and alters clothes to fit herself, her daughter and her two granddaughters.

I sized the main image to fit in the middle of the larger card and used green texture paste through a stencil. The central panel was layered onto white card leaving a small border so it would stand out and then raised on 3d foam tape. I printed the pale pink paper and put it back through to print the text on top. I lightened the text so it didn’t overpower the backing paper. The central panel was finished off with a dress form die cut, lace effect paper ribbon and pink pearls.
I edged the base card with a button themed border die cut from pink card and layered onto white card.

 Items used:
Digital Craftorium Eclectic Mix USB: Main image and backing paper.
Crafts Too:  Texture paste – I forgot to make a note of the two colours used!
Couture Creations: Bodice die.
Tonic Studios: Button and Star Strip Die Set.
From stash: Paper lace effect border and pearls.
Script/text downloaded free from internet.

#129 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

I needed to make a birthday card for a little girl who was going to be one year old. I’d seen that Tonic Studios had brought out a rocking horse die set so I bought it. As she’s only one I used the die cut flat on the card but in the future I’ll make her the 3D version of the rocking horse.

I designed the backing paper in Serif Craft Artist using a pink background and resizing the image of a rocking horse so it was quite small. I also altered the transparency so that the image didn’t stand out too much. The letters and number were cut from pink card in my stash - trying to get all the letters level was a challenge!
Items used:
Tonic Studios: Retro Rocking Horse and ABC Baby Blocks die sets.
Serif Craft Artist digi kits: Victoria Nelson’s Festive Feast Table, Kate Hadfield Under The Tree.
Claina Palmer Designs: Numbers die set.

The challenge will close on Saturday 30th March 2024 at 1pm.

#109 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
The theme for a card swap I’m in was Lavender and Lace and this is the card I made:

I covered an 8 by 8 card blank with backing paper from a Paper Boutique USB – it was originally in paper kit form but they’ve put a lot of their designs on USBs now. The background die is just a 2 inch wide strip Tonic die which I cut three times and glued to green card stock, also from Paper Boutique. The sprigs of lavender are dies and vignette from Carnation Crafts and the sentiment from Tonic.

I finished the card by adding some Nuvo Crystal drops but smudged one and thought I’d ruined the card. I managed to remove the ‘smudged’ drop but it stained the card purple. I thought I had nothing to lose and covered the stain with white ink from a Pen-Touch pen – I think I got away with it as it’s barely noticeable!
I dug out the paper kit and used some toppers to decorate the inside of the card.

Items used:
Creative Crafting World: 8by8 card blank, Paper Boutique Lavender Fields both the paper kit and USB - The Paper Pantry Vol VI. Green card is from the matching card collection.
Tonic Studios: Constance Lace Die 1741e, Enjoy Sentiment strip die 2584e and Nuvo Crystal Drops in Violet Galaxy.
Carnation Crafts: Dried Flower die and vignette from the Fond Memories Collection
The challenge will close on Saturday 13th May 2023 at 1pm.

#108 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
On Create and Craft recently they were selling off USBs from the Digital Portfolio range. These used to be on the original Create and Craft and I guess they’re old stock that the current Create and Craft are trying to get rid of. I saw them when they were first aired on the channel and liked the look of them but they were a really silly price for all 15 USBs. There’s only 30 papers on each USB so not worth the price they were asking. I’m glad I waited as I’ve slowly been able to get all 15 USBs at a much cheaper price (around £5 ish each USB).
For this card I used the Watercolour Paper Effects USB.

I really like the designs that John Lockwood (John Next Door) brings out and have used sets from his latest releases and his gold mirror card. There’s nothing technical to this card - I’ve just layered up the die cuts.

I also decorated the inside as I had some backing paper left over.

Items used:
Crafts Too: John Next Door – 6’’ Layering die set JND351, Pretty Chic range –Chic Square CTPCoo3 and Chic Circle CTPC002 (the wreath has been cut away and just the flowers used) and Mirror card in Vintage Gold.
Card Making Magic by Christina Griffiths – Lacey Ribbon 7’’ die set.
Creative Craft Products: Ultimate Ribbon Sentiments Everyday Die Set.
Tonic Studios: Happy Birthday die set.

#106 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I’m host for the CD Sunday Challenge this time. I needed to make a card for a birthday swap I’m in so decided to use the card as my design team make.
I like some of Chloe’s Creative Cards flower dies and stamps and she recently released floral background and border dies which is what I used on this card. I printed a paper off A Pop of Colour USB (by David Wait) from the Watercolour folder and used the largest background die to cut out the base layer. The main floral background die was then used to cut out the white layer.

I printed the same paper onto vellum which was die cut using Chloe’s Christmas Rose die which I then stamped using Versamark ink and the matching Christmas Rose stamp. The embossing powder I used is Powdered Snow by WOW. The stamens and foliage are die cut from Tonic’s Silver Glitter card.

I decided to decorate the inside of the card using Chloe’s Floral Lace Border and a sentiment from Creative Craft Products.

Items used:

Chloe’s Creative Cards: Floral Lace Background and Border die sets. Christmas Rose die and stamp set. Dazzling Foliage die and stamp set.
Creative Craft Products: Ultimate Ribbon Sentiments Everyday die set.
In The Studio with David Wait: A Pop of Colour USB.
WOW embossing powder in Powdered Snow.
Gems from stash.

#100 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
This is the last challenge for 2022, thanks to everyone who’s supported us throughout the year and looking forward to seeing your makes in 2023.
No Christmas themed card from me – I’m frantically trying to finish making them before the postal deadline!
Every week I go to an exercise class for people over 50, I’ve been going since 2019 although we had to stop during the lockdowns. The instructor is in his 70s and he’s a great guy, he makes the class enjoyable and stresses that we’re only to do what we feel able to. We usually have a break over Christmas but he’s had to do an extended one as he’s having a knee operation. We all decided to give him a card wishing him a speedy recovery and I offered to make one.

I had to make a quick card (we only had one class left) so it’s just a simple image with a music themed border (we exercise to music) and lots of layers. The white and red layer is an optical illusion. The red is a thin strip with a border cut out of one side but it makes it look like two separate layers in white and red.
Items used:
Serif Craft Artist: the music notes are from several kits – Sweet Melody, Name That Tune and Nut Cracker Christmas. All recoloured and made into a border.
The main image is a Purple Ronnie digi called Get Well.
Dies used: Tonic Studios English Picnic Layering die set and Paula Pascaul’s Honeycomb Edge Builder (for the red strips)

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
A very quick, simple card from me this time. I’ve spent so long helping a friend with her new flat that I’ve not had time for crafting!
This card is for my youngest brother who likes to play guitar.

I designed the backing paper in Serif Craft Artist using music notes from a Kate Hadfield digi kit called Big School. The notes were originally black and I tried to recolour them using the Colour Picker but because they were such a dark colour you couldn’t see the new colour. So I tried the Styles tab/Instant Effects scrolled down to Plastic and it worked a treat!
Items used:
Serif Craft Artist/ Kate Hadfield digi kit called Big School, Cuttlebug embossing folder - Allegro, Tonic Studios Electric Guitar die and a sentiment die from Paper Boutique.

#No:98 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

This is the second of my Halloween makes. As I mentioned in my last blog post I haven’t been able to show it before now as it’s one of my design team entries.
As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I made this for a card swap I’m in on a forum – the theme was Spooky so I just had to make something for Halloween.

As this is meant to look like a book I used thick card stock in black for the ‘cover’ and ran it through an embossing folder to look like creases in an old leather book cover. I didn’t take a photo as, with it being black, it didn’t make for a very interesting photo!

Items used:
Carnation Crafts: Wedding Volume, Pumpkin Corner, Quiet Retreat and Flourished Floral die sets cut from their 2021 Halloween bundle vignettes. Bats, skeleton and web cut from A little Spooked die set and vignettes of the same name.
Tonic Studios: Nuvo Glow in the Dark Drops added to the pumpkin eyes.
Crafter’s Companion: Lightning embossing folder.
The challenge will close on Saturday 26th November 2022 at 1pm.

#No:97 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

Thanks to everyone who entered the CD Sunday Plus Challenge over the last two weeks. I was host so I get to pick the Top Three. We had lots of Halloween themed entries and as I love Halloween I’m going to find it difficult to narrow it down to just three! I made several Halloween items but as they’re my design team makes I haven’t been able to blog them. The first one is my card for today and I’ll use the others over the next two challenges.
As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I’ve recently joined a new card swap on Facebook. It’s called Card Exchange and the admin is Linda Trigg if anyone is interested in joining in. It’s only been running since September so there’s only about seven members at the moment.
The theme for October was to make a multi-tiered pop-up card. I’d never seen one before but there’s plenty of videos on YouTube. The one I followed was to make a card that fits a 6x6 envelope but after making a prototype from white card I decided to make a larger one that fitted an 8x8 envelope.

After cutting out all the pieces it’s easier to cover them with backing papers before joining it all together. It’s not as difficult to make as it looks and it’s great for displaying all the decorations. I don’t think it will be the last one I make.
Lots of photos showing the coffins on the sides and the various layers.

Items used:
Backing papers: All were designed by a friend who used to offer them as downloads for free on his blog, Sadly his blog has been dormant for many years and he now longer designs any crafting things.
Carnation Crafts: Wedding Volume, Pumpkin Corner, Season Décor die sets cut from their 2021 Halloween bundle vignettes. A Little Spooked die set cut from the vignettes of the same name.
Tonic Studios: The RIP is from the Spooky Coffin Treat Box die set.
The challenge will close on Saturday 12th November 2022 at 1pm.

#94 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The UK is currently mourning the loss of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II. It's been such a sad time for us. Tomorrow is the state funeral and many more tears will be shed. She's now reunited with her husband. Rest in Peace your Majesty.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
My 11 year old great nephew has, in the last year, taken up learning the electric guitar. There was only one theme that I needed to use for his card!

I made the pop-up box from scratch. I do have a die that was free in a magazine but I wanted a bigger box. The paper is one I designed in Craft Artist. I picked out music notes from various digi kits, recoloured them as they were black, grouped them and then copy and pasted them to fill the page.
The guitar die cut was glued to the back with the rest glued to acetate strips ad spaced out across the top of the box.The keyboards, which I used three times, were all meticulously paper pieced!

Items used:
Serif Craft Artist digikits: Name That Tune, Nutcracker Christmas, Sweet Melody (music notes that have been recoloured).
Tonic Studio: several sets of music related dies from a few years ago.
Paper Boutique Sentiments Dies Vol XX

#91 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I’m hosting the challenge this fortnight and this card came about after a tidy up of my desk LOL! I’d printed off a couple of designs from a USB but hadn’t used them all. This one is far too pretty to be left lurking on my desk! It had been printed onto Pro Print paper which really makes the colours stand out.

I then printed out two pink papers from another USB to cut the ringlet dies out off. I thought the two shades of pink were the perfect match for the pinks in the background paper. From what was left I made the three flowers using a cut and emboss folder and the sentiment.

The card is finished off with Tonic Nuvo Drops which was almost a disaster! The colour I first used was translucent and too orange, so I went over the top with another colour and held my breath until they were dry – thankfully they turned out OK!

Items used:

Imagination Crafts Mixed Media Rice Papers Vol 3 USB.
Create and Craft Linen Card USB.
Anna Marie Designs Dottie Ringlets and Dottie Sprigs.
Chloe Creative Cards Summer Flower Cut and Emboss Folder.
Paper Boutique Sentiments Vol XX.
Nuvo Drops - Jewel Drops in Rosewater, Crystal Drops in Carnation Pink covered in Jewel Drops in Pink Aura.
The challenge will close on Saturday 20th August 2022 at 1pm.
