#49 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

It’s my turn to host the challenge at CD Sunday Plus. I haven’t hosted one for almost 2 and a half years. My teamies have been very understanding and let me take a break, and even let me dip in and out as I felt able too. Most design teams would have told me I had to leave and wouldn’t have been so understanding. The CD Sunday DT are the best!

The theme for the CD Sunday PlusChallenge is, as usual, Anything Goes. You must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download and you must state where the item used is from.

I’m taking part in a Secret Santa swap on a crafting forum and I usually make an object as well as a card. Last year I made crocheted table mats and matching crocheted tree baubles. This year I wanted to have a go at making a Finnish Star that I’d seen in a craft magazine but gave up as my ‘star’ was looking decidedly rough! Then a friend of mine blogged one that she’d made following a tutorial on someone else's blog. So I clicked on the link and the instructions were so clear and easy to follow that I was able to make three smaller versions to hang on a Christmas tree. So thank you Hazel (Didos)! Click on Hazel’s name to go to her Finnish Star and the tutorial is on this blog – The Craft Cavalier.

To make the star you need double sided paper so I printed on both sides of Pro Paper. There’s a right and a wrong side to Pro Paper so the design printed on the back came out slightly muted compared to the colours on the front but I liked the finished look. Once assembled I die cut various sentiments and images to decorate the middle of both sides of the 3 stars, and added gold peel offs. I added some cord that used to be the handles of gift bags to hang them up.

WARNING - there now follows A LOT of photos LOL!

This is the front:

#48 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

I bought a pack of large MDF tag blanks a while ago and thought I’d have a go at decorating one for this challenge using printable Sumi paper (similar to handmade paper). The Sumi paper has been printed on one side using a design from a Sharon Duncan CD called Garden Textures (2015!). It was a nightmare trying to get it through the printer – the first piece just screwed up into a ball and I had to open the printer to get it out! So for the second attempt I used a tape runner to stick the edges of the Sumi to photocopy paper and it worked. Sadly in the finished item you can barely see the Sumi! I ran around the edges of the tag with a gold PenTouch pen and also sprayed Tonic Nuvo Mica Mist through a stencil. I might as well have left this stage out as you can only see a tiny bit under the topper!

I then decorated the front with various die cuts and Nuvo drops to make an autumnal scene.

The large die in the middle was cut from a Paper Boutique set of dies but before adding the double tree die cut I embossed it using a folder free with Papercraft Essentials magazine. You can only just make out the falling leaf impressions but without it there would be an empty space. For the pumpkin I printed a design from the aforementioned CD onto card, this time in orange, before cutting it out. I liked how it gave the impression of texture to the pumpkins. I also cut it out in green and light brown to add the stalks and tendrils.

I filled the space under the pumpkins with lots of leaf and acorn die cuts using dies from the sets listed below. I then opened Craft Artist on the PC and designed the ‘Autumn’ using various digi kits.

Finally I cut out the letter ‘A’ using an Xcut set and filled it in with more acorns and leaves!

#47 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The theme for the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes. You must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download and you must state where the item used is from.

Earlier this year I made a card using a backing paper I’d printed off. I’d printed 4 copies of this paper as I kept slightly altering the printer settings to get the colour and look I wanted. I’ve blogged two other cards I’d made with this paper and this is the third one – they all look so different!

Today’s card is for my youngest sister – the baby of the family, she’s 51 LOL! I’m from a large family of 5 boys and 4 girls and the ages range from 52 to 74.

I attached the aforementioned backing paper to a 6 x 6 card blank and then added various die cuts over the top. I finished it off with a resin flower and pink pearls.

 Items used:

Tattered Lace USB Ultimate Magazine Collection Issues 1-40 (paper is from issue 12).

Tonic Studios Seamlessly Beautiful Crystal Sphere Die Set and Verso Corner Pansy Arch die set (won in a blog draw many years ago)

Green card from my stash.

The challenge will close on Saturday 7th November at 1pm.

These are the other 2 cards made with the same backing paper.

#46 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The theme for the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes. You must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download and you must state where the item used is from.

I belong to a craft forum and we have regular card swaps using a theme. The latest one was ‘Use green, pink and white’. I’d just had a new die collection from Carnation Crafts delivered and had printed out the downloadable vignettes ready to make a card and luckily the colours I’d chosen fitted this theme.

I used an A5 card blank and cut a mat from the A Little Bit Fancy Perfect Papers - it’s actually 300gsm card. I then cut out the card shape die from the collection using the vignette in pale green. I used it as a sort of trellis rather than the card base. I then cut out several of the Balloon Flowers and snipped into some of the die cuts to make a fuller flower arrangement which I also layered up.

Items used:

Carnation Crafts: Perfect Papers, Card Shape die and Balloon Flower die all from the A Little Bit Fancy Collection.

The challenge will close on Saturday 24th October at 1pm.

#45 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The theme for the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes. You must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download and you must state where the item used is from.

I needed to make a birthday card for one of my niece’s and it was the perfect ‘excuse’ to use some new dies from Carnation Crafts. They’re a company that has downloadable ‘vignettes’ to use with the dies. Some are free from their website but you can buy other colour ways as well. As this was the first time I’d made a card with their products I opted for the free colourway.

The yellow background card was run through an embossing folder before being attached to the base card. I then used the Sunny dies from the Summer Daze Collection and a Happy Birthday die from Creative Crafting World. I finished off with some gems from my stash.

Items used:

The Summer Daze collection from Carnation Crafts – Sunny die set and Perfect Papers.

Daisy Chain embossing folder – free with Cardmaking and Papercrafts magazine in 2014!

The Paper Boutique Happy Birthday sentiment from Creative Crafting World which was cut from Its’ A Dog’s Life card collection.

The challenge will close on Saturday 10th October at 1pm.
