#151 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme is Anything Goes at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
My sister-in-law loves to cook so this is her birthday card.

I made the bridge card by hand. I do have a set of dies that will make one but it was far too small for what I had in mind. I also designed the wallpaper and ‘tiles’ in Serif Craft Artist to closely match her own kitchen (*more details below).
The addition of the dog was a last minute decision. My sister-in-law does have a dog who is very much loved and part of their family. He loves sausages and occasionally gets one as a treat. As the ‘food’ contained pigs in blankets I couldn’t resist adding Denver dog to the card.

Items used:
Carnation Crafts: Festive Feast dies and vignettes.
Paper Boutique: Walkies Time Beyond Borders die set.
Crafts -Too:  Kitchen Tools dies and stamps.
Serif Craft Artist: Seasonal Garden, Born 2 Shop Cherry Pie. Dawn Chorus, A Country Christmas, Spring Tea Party, Eccentric Carousel digi kits.

*Kitchen Design – I’m a perfectionist! Which can be a bit of a bind at times as I sometimes spend days trying to get my makes perfect. And this was the case with the ‘wallpaper’. Working from a photo I attempted to make a backing paper in Serif Craft Artist that looked like the wallpaper in my sister-in-law’s kitchen. Firstly I picked a material with a crackle effect that was similar but it was the wrong colour so I had to change it using the Colour Picker Tool. I then picked a frame and a butterfly, changed the colours and dotted them around the paper. Next came the tricky bit! I wrote the saying and picked a similar font but the text needed to be white to show up on the grey background. But if I wrote it in white I couldn’t see it on the screen LOL! I had to write it in black, add it to the background and then change the colour to white using the colour picker. Finally I grouped everything together ready to print and use.
Designing the wall tiles was much simpler! I just searched a few online tile suppliers until I found a suitable design and brought the photo into Craft Artist to resize and print.
The ‘cabinets’ are just simple die shapes and the ‘worktop’ is from a digi kit and copies design of the real worktops.
It took at least a week to finish the base design. I then put it to one side to make my Christmas cards. I then added all the tools, the food, Denver dog and my sister-in-law and managed to get it in the post by the Christmas post cut off date as her birthday is 23rd December.

The challenge will close on Saturday 15th February 2025 at 1pm.

Don't forget that the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is about making items using something printed from a craft CD Rom, USB or digital download. You can use other craft items on your card/project, such as a stamp or die, but you must include something printed from the new categories. You must also make a physical item and not a digital one. In your blog post/Facebook entry you must give the name of the printed item you've used.

#150 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme is Anything Goes at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge.  Remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.

In a recent craft magazine there was instructions on how to make a triangle or teepee card base. I’d made these many years ago and had wanted to make some more but couldn’t remember how to so I was delighted to find these instructions. Following the instructions I made a card base from some white card but the finished item was far too small! So I set about working out dimensions to make a bigger card that would, when folded flat, fit into an envelope 9 by 6.5 inches.
I already knew how I would decorate the three sides. A friend is a very talented artist and since he’s retired he’s spending more time painting.

I enjoyed making this card so much that I made a second one for my youngest brother. He likes to play a bass guitar in a band and I try to make him a music related card every year. There’s nothing digital on this one.

Both men contacted me to say they loved their cards. I think I'll be making a few more of this style LOL!

Items used:
Carnation Crafts: Not Messy, Creative, Strike A Pose and Tools of the Trade dies and vignettes.
Backing paper was from a craft magazine.

#149 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

Welcome back to  The CD Sunday Plus Challenge and Happy New Year! The team are looking forward to seeing your entries in 2025.As usual the theme is Anything Goes. Remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I decided to share my make for a Secret Santa Swap on one of the craft forums I belong to. Sadly only three of us took part so it wasn’t very ‘secret’.
I made some Finnish Stars which I’ve made before but I’d forgotten how to make them so had to look the tutorial up again. You can find it here.

I chose a ‘material’ in Serif Craft Artist called Retro Christmas and printed it on both sides of Pro Print Paper from Carnation Crafts. I put peel offs along every edge, which was very time consuming and quite fiddly. I decorated the centres on both sides using sentiment dies by The Paper Boutique and the snowflakes are from Crafts-Too called Sam’s Baubles JND410. Finally I added some ribbon so they could be hung up.

The challenge will close on Saturday 18th January 2025 at 1pm.
