Rabbit, Rabbit - CD Sunday

This time at the  CD Sunday Blog Challenge it's my turn to pick the theme. As Easter is fast approaching I didn't want a theme that was blatantly Easter as not everyone sends Easter cards. So I chose a theme that could be used for other occasions as well as Easter if you want. Hopefully it will mean that more people will join in the challenge.
I wanted to join in with the next swap at Craft Telly Forum which has an Easter theme so needed to make a present and a card. I had the free gift with Die-cutting Essentials issue 34 on my desk and it was perfect for my theme. There are lots of small dies - flowers, leaves, Easter eggs, flower stalks and blooms and a strip of grass plus 2 larger dies a rabbit and a 'wicker' basket. I rummaged in my craft room and found an old round box that had chocolates in previously and decorated it. All the dies, except for the sentiment, are from the Die-cutting Essentials magazine.

The bunnies tails are made by rolling a small amount of cotton wool in your fingers with a tiny drop of glue. The glue helps to hold the cotton wool in shape.

I then saw a card design in Papercraft Essentials magazine issue 156 promoting Die-cutting Essentials and using the above dies so made my version of the card.

I had fun adding all the bits and pieces to this card!

All the card used for the two items is from Creative Crafting World, including the white card used to make the card blank. The sentiment is a die from a set also by Creative Crafting World.
I used Tonic Nuo drops for the rabbit eyes and flower centres and the top and base of the box were covered with a circle of card cut using a Tonic Circle layering die set. The aperture in the card was also cut using this die set.
The flowery paper on the box and card were printed from A Walk In The Countryside CD by Creative Crafting World.

In The Wild - CD Sunday

Jane has picked the next theme for the CD Sunday Challenge - In The Wild. I love most animals and have several CDs that have pictures of wild animals but I was totally stumped as to what to make for this theme. So I sat at my PC and just loaded CDs and looked through them for ideas. When I came to a Creative Crafting World CD by Pollyanna Pickering there was an image of a pheasant printed on the front of the disc. I belong to a birthday swap and the next birthday on the list is someone who has a pheasant who visits her garden regularly so I thought I'd try and combine the two tasks. The CD is called Sketch Book Collection - Chapter IV Woodland Birds.
I looked through the CD and came across a topper that was designed to look like mats and layers had already been added. So I printed off the topper plus 2 sheets of backing papers that were the same as the ones on the topper. At this point I still had no idea of the style of card I was going to make so left the sheets on my desk. When I came back to my desk I saw the sheets lying on top of each other and inspiration struck! This is what I came up with:

The topper ends at the plain green border everything else is made from the backing papers layered onto white card.

I cut the band across the middle to be the exact size as the one across the middle of the topper.

I finished the card with a sentiment from the same CD, some gold pearls and I also dotted Tonic Nuvo drops in the centre of every flower on the dark trellis paper.

I used one of the papers to decorate the insert.

Up, Up and Away - CD Sunday

Another Sunday comes around and it's time for a new challenge theme over at the CD Sunday Challenge blog. We're doing things a little bit differently now. The winners from last week's challenge, Vintage Love, will announced in a separate post on the blog next week. That means we'll have a new blog post every week so our blog followers will have a reminder in their reading lists. Hopefully this will give people a gentle 'nudge' about the challenge and remind them of when they need to get their entry done by.

So onto the new theme and this time it's Carol's choice and she's chosen 'Up, Up and Away'.

I knew I had a die that would be perfect for this theme (Adventure Landscape Die by Pretty Quick)but needed the 'something from a CD element' so I turned to Craft Artist and found the perfect backing paper in the Classic Transport digi kit. This was glued to a 5 by 7 card blank ready for the die cut.

I don't know if you can tell from the photo but each section in the die cut was glittered individually.

I backed the blue mirri card with double sided adhesive and cut it using my XCut Express machine. You can alter the pressure on the XCut so I adjusted it so that only the mirri card was cut. The double sided adhesive just had cuts in the backing so I was able to peel it away from each section and add glitter without it going into other sections. The topper was then added to the card using foam tape to add height.

I finished the card by stamping Up, Up & Away! down the left hand side. This was originally one stamp but I cut the words out so I could space them out up the side.

Vintage Love - CD Sunday

A new theme for the CD Sunday Challenge and with it being the month of love there could only be one theme! It's Jocelyn's choice and she's gone for Vintage Love. So get your CDs out and look through them for something suitable, it could be an image, a backing paper, a sentiment or a small embellishment. Who's your card going to be for? A partner, a much loved friend, someone who you want to tease or play a trick on? Mine's for my hubby of 39 years. He's really supportive of my crafting and sometime offers me advise if I'm unsure if something looks right.                        

I found instructions for a 'fanfare fold' in Papercraft Inspirations issue 174 and it has several surfaces that can be decorated.

Each page was covered in a plain backing paper that had first had the edges inked and distressed. Then another, floral paper, was layered on top that had also had the edges inked and distressed. Each of the die cuts were cut from backing papers that had been printed onto card. The red die cuts were also stamped before being die cut.

I finished the card off with pink roses and pink pearls.

All dies and stamps are from the Tonic Box Kit magazine number 4. The backing papers are from Serif Craft Artist - All Sewn Up (the two flowery papers), Deco Opulence (the red paper) and Fifties Fever (the pink paper).

Winter in the Mountains - CD Sunday

I was looking through some back issues of one of my favourite craft magazines and came across a card fold I've not seen before. It's called a U-fold and has a central area that is set back from the front and gives a great 3-D effect. The magazine was Quick Cards Made Easy issue 172 but sadly the magazine has now been discontinued. I've bought it for many, many years possibly from issue 1 and it's always been one of my favourites. I shall miss it dropping through my letterbox every month.
So I now had a card shape for Margaret's theme at CD Sunday - Winter in the Mountains. I looked through a few of my craft CD roms and came across an image of a young lad skiing which then got my old brain cells thinking and this is what I came up with:

 

I covered the card blank with a snowy sky paper from a CD that was free with Making Cards magazine in 2016.I then resized the boy to fit the side panels and layered him onto black card. He is from a Polkadoodles CD called Magical Winter part one.

The snowy hills in the central section are die cut from plain white card that I've gone over with a clear overlay Spectrum Noir Sparkle Glitter pen from Crafter's Companion. The dies were free in Simply Cards and Paper Crafts magazine issue 168. The houses are a Tattered Lace die from the Christmas magazine 2017 and I placed yellow paper behind to look like lights. To finish I just covered the front band with more snowy paper and added a die cut sentiment from Creative Dies.
