Sparkle and Shine - CD Sunday

Over on the CD Sunday Blog today's posting reveals the winner of the challenge that was sponsored by our dear friend Sharon Duncan. Make sure you pop over to see if you've one one of Sharon's CD Roms. Sharon is currently recovering from an operation and all of the CD Sunday design team wish her a full and quick recovery.

So on to the theme for the next 2 weeks - Sparkle and Shine. A great excuse to get all your 'blingy' stash out and enter the challenge. I chose to make a Christmas card as I always leave them too late and it ends up being a chore.

This photo doesn't show all of the embossing very well. The middle is an oval shape with swirls/scrolls around the edges and two snowflakes - one in each corner. And the backing paper is a light grey but I had to darken the photo to make the embossing show up.
The CD I used is one I bought recently from Sharon Duncan called Embossibilites Sentiments. It's a 2 CD set and the paper is from the 'Everyday Papers' CD. I printed a plain grey backing paper onto white card and then embossed it using a free embossing folder from a craft magazine. For it to then fit in with the Sparkle and Shine theme I sprayed it with a Crafter's Companion Spray and Sparkle - Pearl Diamond.
The snowflake is from the Christmas decoration section at B & M - £1.99 for a pack of 16. I bought 3 packs, silver, gold and white - they also do them in red but I didn't like them.
I finished the card off with lots of clear gems. And the inside is decorated too.

I used an off cut of the backing paper and an embossing folder with Christmas words on it. The Merry and Bright is a Creative Die bought from Craft Stash.

Pop over to the CD Sunday Blog to see the rest of the DT's cards - they're all great and may give you some ideas for your own card.

The challenge runs until 26th November - you must use something from a craft CD and you must name the CD in your blog post. Good Luck everyone and don't forget to check if you've won Sharon's challenge which had a theme of Paws.

  1. Morning Pamela. Thank you for your early visit. I love this card you have made and I agree with you about the red snowflakes. I bought some last year and haven't used them as each time I look at them I think No!
I will have to investigate the Embossibilities Sentiments CD that you have used.

  2. Your card has a lots of sparkle and shine, love the snowflake. I know what you mean about red in snowflakes, but this year the tatters around the world have been making snowflakes in lots of colours. Some just don't seem right to me. I have made some with very pale ice blue and white with the ice blue and they look really cool.
Well done on such a gorgeous card

  3. Hi Pamela
firstly I am so sorry that I haven't thanked you sooner for my wonderful prize from CD Sunday 'Country Living' week - I have been so busy this week that I don't know if I have been coming or going!!!
Secondly I do hope that your hubby is on the mend now.
I was so thrilled with the prize and look forward to crafting with them. It was also so lovely to receive a hand written letter... sadly emails have taken over this art form :-(
Thank you once again and I will look forward to joining in CD Sunday with as many entries as I can muster!
