#53 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The theme for the current challenge at The CD Sunday Challenge Blog is, as usual, Anything Goes. You must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
My late husband was very close to one of his aunties - she’s his only remaining aunt on his father’s side. She loves purple and I try to make her a special card for her birthday every year. This year she was 87 and although she has some health issues she’s still doing well.

This is a Carnation Crafts vignette cut using the Stylish Stems die set which is part of the ‘You’re Too Kind Collection’. And the layers are cut using their Pretty Shabby Square dies. The sentiment is from The Paper Boutique.
The challenge will close on Saturday 13th February 2021 at 1pm.
Don't forget that the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is now about making items using something printed from a craft CD Rom, USB or digital download. You can use other craft items on your card/project, such as a stamp or die, but you must include something printed from the new categories. You must also make a physical item and not a digital one. In your blog post/Facebook entry you must give the name of the printed item you've used.

Christmas card No.1 January 2021!

Every year I end up making my Christmas cards in December. And every year I swear I'm going to start earlier the next year but it never happens LOL! So it's a huge surprise that I've made my first 2021 Christmas card and we're only into the third week of January!
I had great fun making this card and decorating it. It's made using a Tonic Studios set of dies - Staggered Stage Winter Village die set (what a mouthful!). I loved colouring the Christmas lights in using some very old Sukura pens.
But my favourite item is the teeny, tiny snowman right at the front!
I'm entering this into the Fezziwig's Festive Frolics Challenge.

#52 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

When I was on Facebook in a Serif Craft Artist group someone posted a photo of a card they’d made using a digikit that I knew would be perfect for my next door neighbour’s oldest daughter. She’s a very pretty girl and likes to wear clothes and style her hair and makeup to look a little bit goth/punk. She has one of those earrings in her ear lobe that makes a hole and stretches it bigger and bigger! She also likes images of bats and spiders and their webs.

Originally I just designed the layout in Craft Artist and printed it out with the intention of just gluing it to a card blank. But then my mind started working overtime LOL! I went back into Craft Artist and undid the layout. I then arranged each element onto a page with plenty of room around them - all together there was eight items. The two girls were placed on a page of their own and copied so I had two of each girl, these were printed onto Pro Paper. The other elements were then printed onto printable Sumo paper (rice paper) and using a water brush torn away from the blank areas of the Sumo paper. The design was then built back up again, on a piece of card, which involved using a fabric decoupage glue to stick the items down one at a time and waiting for them to dry. Before the next layer could be added I painted white Gesso where it was to be placed and waited for that to dry. I needed to use white paint under each layer as rice paper is thin and the layer underneath would show through making the background look ‘muddy’. By using white Gesso the upper layers remained true to colour and as bright as when they were on screen. Eventually once it was all dry I was able to add the four faces using Pinflair Glue Gel to add height. I added sparkle pen to the lips, eyes and hair. There was already necklaces on the images but I added Nuvo drops and gems to them.

The finished design was then matted onto black card and then a card blank that I made from cardstock. It's an 8.5 by 6 landscape card blank with the fold on the left hand side.

Items used:
Serif Craft Artist and digikits from Paper Studio – Silke’s Boos and Booze mini kits.
Printable Sumo paper from Create and Craft.
Tonic Studio Nuvo Drops – Ivory Seashell Crystal Drops and Fiery Volcano Stone Drops.

The challenge will close on Saturday 30th January 2021 at 1pm.

#51 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

The Top Three for the challenge I hosted, 22nd November to 5th December, has been announced over on the CD Sunday Challenge Blog. Thanks to everyone who entered, it was great seeing so many entries and some from new people too.
The theme for the current challenge is Anything Goes. You must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and a physical item must be made not a digital one.
After watching a Facebook live from Carnation Crafts I decided to have a go at making a triple easel card. I’m loving using the Carnation Crafts flower dies and downloadable vignettes – they make the card look amazing.

For the central easel I used the Carnation Crafts A Little Bit Fancy Card Shape. I cut the back layer from green card by The Paper Boutique’s It’s A Dog’s Life. The detailed layer was cut from the downloadable vignette. The two side panels are cut using a Tonic Studios die from the Swirling Frame Layering Die Set.

I then decorated the card using Carnation Crafts flower dies and downloadable vignettes. From left to right they are – Balloon Flower, Night-scented Stock, Peony, Agapanthus and finishing on the right sided easel - Balloon Flower. Some of the die cuts were snipped into and pieces slipped in to fill gaps.

The heart shaped stoppers are cut using Tattered Lace Heart dies. The green card as before and the purple is Paper Boutique again but this time from The Walled Garden set. Finally the sentiment and backing layer were cut using The Paper Boutique Happy Anniversary Doily Die set.

I made the card for my next door neighbours. They sent me a text saying ‘Wow!! You have out done yourself on this one. It’s amazing, we love it and are touched that you remembered our wedding anniversary’. They’ve been a great support to me, and my late husband during his illness, and since he’s passed away.
The challenge will close on Saturday 16th January 2021 at 1pm.
