#75 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
As I’m still making my Christmas cards I decided to make my design team entry a Christmas card.
I turned to my trusty Serif Craft Artist to find a backing paper. I also printed off two plain papers, one green and one red, to cut dies from. They’re all from the Christmas Florist digi by Victoria Nelson.

The central dies are Spellbinders Birthday Wishes Vignette S5-455 and Joy Crescent Card Builder S5-466. These were designed by Becca Feeken from the Amazing Paper Grace blog.
The corner dies are Snowflake Corners JND244 by Crafts Too John Next Door. I like snowflake images and I can see these corner dies becoming a favourite!

Don't forget that the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is now about making items using something printed from a craft CD Rom, USB or digital download. You can use other craft items on your card/project, such as a stamp or die, but you must include something printed from the new categories. You must also make a physical item and not a digital one. In your blog post/Facebook entry you must give the name of the printed item you've used.

We also have a Facebook page if you don't have a blog - The CD Sunday Plus Challenge.

#74 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.

I don’t know if you’ve heard of Becca Feeken but she’s a Spellbinders designer and I’ve followed her blog, Amazing Paper Grace, for many, many years. She designs the most beautiful dies and her cards are always stunning. So when Create and Craft had some of her new range recently I just had to buy a couple of sets. For this card I used Birthday Wishes Vignette S5-455.
I covered the card blank with paper from a Paper Pantry USB. This is a stunning range of papers and was originally a paper pack but Creative Crafting World are now bringing out their paper pack designs on USBs. Which is great news as I’ve used up most of my favourite papers from this set.

I cut the base layer die from peach card from the Paper Pantry collection (paper pack this time) then I cut the next layer from white card and the final pink layer is also from the Paper Pantry collection. I then cut the Birthday Wishes layer three times - once in the same pink card, then a layer of silver mirror card and the top layer from white card. They were layered up so they were very slightly off set - you can just see a little of each layer. This top layer was attached to the card with 3d foam to give a little height.

The flowers were handmade using the same peach and pink card. They were cut using a cut and emboss folder, I only used two layers for the flowers as the third layer was too big for the space on the card. I love these folders and can’t stop making flowers with them! I used a glue pen along the embossed veins and sprinkled DecoArt Glamour Dust over them and then glued a silver gem in the middle of each flower. I love how they sparkle and it seems to make the silver layer of the Birthday Wishes stand out more. The foliage is cut using Anna Marie Designs Dottie Sprigs dies which I’ve chopped up to fit around the flowers. And a few half silver pearls.

Items used:
Creative Crafting World: 6 by 6 inch card blank, The Paper Pantry Vol IV USB – Blossoms in the Breeze Collection, matching plain card from the paper pack and silver pearls.
Spellbinders: Becca Feeken Birthday Wishes Vignette dies S5-455.
Chloe’s Creative Cards - Cut and Emboss folder, Posy Flower.
Anna Marie Designs: Dottie Sprigs dies
DecoArt Glamour Dust.
The challenge will close on Saturday 4th December 2021 at 1pm.

#73 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus DT.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.

I’ve mentioned before that I buy lots of craft magazines – well not so many these days as several of them have been discontinued. I like to flick through them when they first arrive then when I’ve more time I read them properly. But when I flicked through issue 200 of Papercraft Essentials I stopped at pages 12 and 13 as the cards really caught my attention. The designer was Debbie Simpson who I admit to never having heard of before. Members of the magazine designer teams tend to be in several craft magazines so you get used to their names. Debbie’s cards were made using the free paper downloads from the magazine. So I hot footed it over to the website and downloaded them.

The card I liked the most was a style called curtain or drapery fold and I particularly liked the papers used for it.

My card isn’t exactly the same as the one in the magazine as I’ve used different paper on the lower half and made a rosette instead of using one of the downloadable images of a young women. I also finished the card with LOADS of sticky backed gems!

Items used:
Creative Crafting World: 7 by 5 inches landscape card blank but turned so it’s a tent fold. Black card for the mats and sentiment dies.
Papercraft Essentials: issue 200 downloads from https://craftworld.com/home but you have to sign into the website in order to see them.
The challenge will close on Saturday 20th November 2021 at 1pm.

I emailed Papercraft Essentials magazine and since writing this blog post I've heard from them. They've not only posted a photo of my card in issue 204 but I've won the Star Letter prize!!!!

#72 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

Thanks for entering my hosting challenge over the last two weeks. I’m going to find it very difficult to whittle it down to just three for my Top Three picks.
Get yourself comfortable – there’s a lot of steps to the card for this fortnight’s challenge!
As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I started by taking a paper into Serif Craft Artist so I could get the size right for the card blank (7x10 inches). I didn’t want to print A4 and chop bits off as I liked the images at the edges of the paper. The paper is from a USB – Imagination Crafts Mixed Media Rice Papers USB Volume 3. I chose this paper because I love the face at the bottom left. I didn’t print it on rice paper though - it’s Fabriano white paper.

After gluing it to the card blank I drew around the edges with a black marker. I’d dithered about putting a layer of black card first but it just didn’t look right so it was a bit of a gamble that the black pen would look OK. But the best thing about using USBs is that you can always print another sheet off!
I masked off the 3 yellow butterflies and then stamped over them in black with an Indigo Blu stamp from their box magazine number 3.

I also stamped the corner filigree at the bottom left and the cameo and lady at the top right which were 2 separate stamps that I combined to make the cameo image.
I then went over the butterflies with a glitter pen and used a white pen on the white areas of the paper (mainly the edges of the flowers and the spots on the edge of the largest printed butterfly) which has helped them to stand out.
I glued the skeleton leaves in the corner and added a jewel embellishment – it’s actually a brad but I cut the legs off and used Pinflair glue gel. I went over the leaves with the same glitter pen to give them a shimmery look.

At this point I thought I was done but there was a large ‘gap’ in the middle to the right.
I still had the sheet of Indigo Blu stamps on my desk and there’s a very large butterfly stamp on it. I stamped it onto yellow card using a grey inkpad and after cutting it out covered it in the glitter pen but it was too bright a yellow and the other butterflies are more orangey. I searched everywhere for a different shade of card but couldn’t find one that was right. I had the remains of a sheet of vellum on my desk so stamped the butterfly on that again in grey ink. Ink stays wet on vellum for ages so I turned the butterfly over and used the glitter pen on the ‘back’. I then glued the two butterflies together and added a small brad. I shaped the butterfly wings before gluing just the body to the card.

Items used:
Creative Crafting World:7 by 10 inch card blank, Fabriano white paper and large white half pearls.
Imagination crafts: Mixed Media Rice Papers Volume 3 USB.
Indigo Blu: stamps from box magazine issue 3.
Items from stash: Cameo and scroll stamps, pearl brads (possibly Creative Expressions?), skeleton leaves (many years old!), Sakura white pen.

The challenge will close on Saturday 6th November 2021 at 1pm.

#71 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at the CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
I’ve seen a lot of ‘wreath’ style cards recently and decided to have a go at making one. They’re usually made with circle dies but I used stitched hexagon ones as I liked the shape. This card was for my late husband’s only surviving aunty and her husband. It was their 67th wedding anniversary and she loves the colour purple.

The base is covered with a paper from a collection called Lavender Fields. We always say that it doesn’t matter how small the ‘digital’ item is it still qualifies to enter the challenge - and this proves the point!
Using two different sized dies I made a frame and cut two of them. Acetate is glued to the front of the card with one frame covering the join. The second frame is attached to the back to hide the adhesive on the acetate.
I’m obsessed with using Cut and Fold Flower Folders at the moment and they’re kept permanently on my desk. I used purple parchment to cut out the flowers which has turned white from the embossing. I then highlighted parts of it with a glitter marker in Purple Passion. I finished the card off with die cut foliage and white half pearls.

The cards are usually open at the bottom like a top fold card but they then don’t stand up very well and tend to slide open when on display so I made a solid base and put the finished card in a box to post.

Items used:
The Paper Pantry USB Vol VI – collection used is Lavender Fields.
Presscut Nesting Dies – Stitch Dot Hexagons.
Chloe’s Creative cards - Meadow Flower Cut and Emboss Folder.
Tonic Studios - Changing Seasons Wreath Die Set for the foliage.
The Paper Boutique - Sentiments dies Volume XX.

The challenge will close on Saturday 23rd October 2021 at 1pm.

#70 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.

On one of the craft forums I belong to we have a birthday card swap. Originally it was set up so we only had one person in each month to make a card for. Sadly the numbers have dropped and we now only have nine people. Three of them are in September and with several family members also having September birthdays I try to get ahead with the cards in August.

This is one of the cards I made for the September birthday swap.

The backing paper is from a Paper Pantry USB with several collection on it. This one is called The Walled Garden. It was originally a paper pack but with it now on a USB I don’t have to think about running out of any of the designs.

The dies are by Becca Feeken for Spellbinders, she also has a blog called Amazing Paper Grace which I’ve followed for many years. She designs the most beautiful dies and her cards are always stunning. So when Create and Craft had some of her new range recently I just had to buy a couple. It’s very rare for the UK craft channels to have any of Becca’s dies.

The flowers are handmade using a very old set of dies by Creative Expressions from 2014. They’re still very useable even though they’re quite old. The dies are in 4 different sizes and I was able to use two sizes that were just the right fit for the card. I placed tiny grey half pearls in the centres of the flowers and large grey pearls on two of the edges of the card.

Items used:
Creative Crafting World: 7 by 5 landscape card blank, The Paper Pantry Vol I USB – The Walled Garden Collection, and grey and maroon card.
Spellbinders: Becca Feeken Birthday Wishes Vignette S5-455
Creative Expression: Sue Wilson’s Finishing Touches Camellia Complete Petals dies.

#69 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one
I’d finished making a card for a future CD Sunday Plus challenge and had some scraps of paper left on my desk. They were heading for the recycling when I changed my mind and made a wedding anniversary card for my next door neighbours with them.

The card blank is a 5 by 7 inch landscape card but I’ve turned it so the fold is at the top (a tent fold). I covered the card blank with backing paper that was a free download from Papercraft Essentials issue 200. You don’t need to buy the magazine to access the downloads – they’re on the Craft World website. I think you need to join the site to access them.

I had a new set of dies on my desk and they fitted the card blank - result! There are 5 dies in the set but I’ve only used the largest and smallest – for the mat behind the flower.

I made the flower using more of the printed paper and a cut and emboss folder. I like these folders so much they now sit permanently on my desk. Only thing is most of my cards now have flowers on them LOL!

I finished the card with a sentiment and backing layer cut using the same card and paper. I also added some large half pearls in pink and white.

Items used:
Creative Crafting World: 5 by 7 landscape card blank and Happy Anniversary die.
Crafts Too John Next Door: Oundle die set.
Tonic Studios: Craft Perfect card in Ballet Pink.
Chloe’s Creative Cards: Cut and Emboss Folder Mystical Flower.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.
For my Design Team make this time I’ve chosen a card I made for my next door neighbour. He’s very hands on with DIY and he works as a caretaker/handyman at a local school. I knew I had a CD rom with the perfect image and background scene.

I covered a card blank with silver mirror card and then glued the ‘shed’ image onto it. The man was from a decoupage sheet on the CD and holds a pint of beer in his left hand. I didn’t want this in the final image so I searched my Craft Artist digikits and found a mug that was suitable which fitted perfectly in his hand hiding the pint glass! I don’t enjoy fussy cutting as I’m not very good at it but managed to cut out three layers of decoupage and they don’t look too bad.

I die cut lots of nuts, bolts and tools from mirror card and placed them around the shed. The centres of the nuts are little circles and would normally be waste but I used them to hang up some of the tools and I think they worked!

 Items used:
Creative Crafting World: landscape base card 5 x 7.
Just Inklined The Big One CD: Framin’ Cards Set 2 – DIY Tool Shed #1 for the background. Flippin’ Men Flippin’ DIY decoupage sheet for the guy.
Tools were all cut using a set of dies free with Die Cutting Essentials Issue 51.

#67 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

Thanks to everyone who entered the CD Sunday Plus Challenge over the last two weeks. I was host and I now need to pick my Top Three choices – not an easy task with so many gorgeous makes to choose from!
As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one. Please also remember we only allow three entries per person, per challenge.
I’ve previously mentioned that Tonic had a Spring card making challenge back in April.  I made a card for each of the eight daily themes and this card was for Picnic Time.
I was sure I’d find something suitable in my Craft Artist digi kits and I was right! There was a predesigned scene and I added a few things like the blue sky, sun, clouds, deckchairs and picnic basket.

I just matted it onto card in coordinating colours and layered it all up.
Items used:
Serif Craft Artist – Beside The Sea, Playground, Pirates, Pin up Cheesecake, Stroll in the Park, Victoria Nelson’s Country Day Out and Craft Scapes Riverside Walk, English Town, Summer Seaside.
Presscut – Nesting Dies Stitch Dot Squares. Presscut Nesting Dies – Plain Squares and Stitched Squares.

Regular visitors to my blog will know that I belong to a birthday card swap on a crafting forum and this card was made for one of my fellow swappees!

It’s not clear from the photo but this ‘cup’ was glued on using Pinflair Glue Gel to bring it forward on the card. I’ve snipped a few extra items and added them to make it look fuller – just like the containers on crafters’ desks!

Items used:
Carnation Crafts - dies and vignettes from the Crafty Little Things Collection, Tools Of The Trade, Quick Note, Reels of Ribbon and Not Messy……. Creative sentiment. The backing paper is also from the same collection.
Creative Crafting World – 5 by 7 landscape card blank.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.

Carol, from the CD Sunday Design Team, makes a lot of cards with stitched borders so I asked her where she buys them from as I wanted to have a go myself - this card is my first attempt at making one. I changed the colour of the thread so that it would co-ordinates with the colours in the bird.

 Items used:
Carnation Crafts – backing paper, bird vignette and bird die (he’s called Swoop).
Add Some Sparkle – Stitch and Do kit number 4.
Tonic – Exquisite Nook Corner die, cut in green to look like foliage. Nuvo Crystal Drops in Buttermilk in the centre of the larger flowers.
Dies by Chloe (now know as Chloe’s Creative Cards) – this was free in one of Chloe’s box magazines. Each flower was cut twice and the petals offset. They were glued to cover the flowers that are in the corner die as they are only small.
Small yellow flowers are from my stash – they’re plastic with a hole in the middle which I’ve pushed a brad through.

Fezziwigs Festive Frolics - Cold and Frosty

The theme at Fezziwigs Festive Frolics is Cold and Frosty. Hazel has given us three weeks for the challenge instead of two this time but I'm still 'tail end Charlie' with my entry LOL! There's only 2 hours left to enter!

I've managed not one but three cards for this theme - three is the maximum number of entries allowed.
All my entries are made using Debbi Moore products. Match It Build a Scene 3D Santa Claus USB and Dies. They are very quick makes so no decoupage but I used Pinflair Glue Gel to raise the items up and shape them.

Hazel will be taking a well deserved break after this challenge ends. The next one will be in 6 weeks time on 18th August.

If you pop over to the Challenge Blog you will see my Top Three from challenge number 61 on 23rd May.

Back in April Tonic Studios had a Spring Challenge for a week. One of the themes was Birds and Babies so I headed straight to my trusty Serif Craft Artist and designed this picture.

I just matted it onto co-ordinating cardstock and a 6 by 6 card blank. I’ve since sent this card to an online friend for her birthday.

Items used:
Serif Craft Artist - Playground, On The Beach, April Showers, Happy Families and Victoria Nelson Country Day Out digi kits.
Tonic - Scalloped Square Layering Dies.

The challenge will close on Saturday 3rd July 2021 at 1pm.

Fezziwigs Festive Frolics - Red and Green entry #2

I enjoyed making the previous card for the Fezziwigs FestiveFrolics Challenge so much that I made a second card. Same style, Crossover Pointy, using different papers from the same Dovecraft 12 by 12 ‘Tis The Season’ paper pack dated 2007.

The green card used to layer up was just in my stash. The sentiment is a Tonic Studios die – Leaping Deer Die Set. I added white pearls to the snowflakes and black ones for the snowmen’s buttons. I spend some time making sure the snowmen were placed where they could be seen rather than hidden behind the crossover triangles.

There's now been 11 challenges for this year - I haven't entered every one but a couple I've entered twice so I've made 7 Christmas cards and it's only June!
This challenge theme ends on 8th June.

#62 Anything Goes - CD Sunday Plus Challenge

Thanks to everyone who entered the last challenge. I’ll be picking my Top Three and it will be announced on June 20th.

As usual the theme at The CD Sunday Plus Challenge is Anything Goes - remember you must have used something printed from a CD, a USB or a digital download, you must state where the item used is from and you must make a physical item and not a digital one.

Recently it was my niece’s birthday – she’s my favourite niece. I know we’re not supposed to have favourites but I’m an aunty many times (I stopped counting after about 18!). This niece is the daughter of my sister that I’m closest too – I’m one of nine children.

Like me my niece loves cats so I used Carnation Crafts dies and vignettes to create a cosy lounge and placed a cat on the chair.

Items used:

Carnation Crafts – Comfort of Home dies and vignettes. ‘Wallpaper’ is a backing paper from the same collection.

Brown paper is from my stash, the texture makes it look like carpet.

The challenge will close on Saturday 19th June 2021 at 1pm.
