Anything Goes #11 - CD Sunday

It’s time for another ‘Anything Goes’ theme at CD Sunday which runs until 8th June.

I decided I wanted to use a die that I haven’t used yet from Crafter’s Companion – Regal Lattice Create-A-Card. I cut 2 from some pearl card stock and these die sets have a ‘tab’ die so I added that to the end of each die cut. I then wrapped the ‘tab’ around the back of either end of a rectangular piece of card so I ended up with a gate fold design.
I covered the middle of the card with a backing paper printed from a Creative Crafting World CD – Perfect Forever Companions.
I added a Happy Birthday cut from the same pearl card – the die is a Tonic Studios Birthday Swirl.

I finished off by adding Nuvo Stone Drops in Lady Liberty to the front of the card and matching ribbon to hold the card closed.

Don't forget that the CD Sunday Challenge is about making items using something printed from a craft CD Rom. You can use other craft items on your card/project, such as a stamp or die, but you must include something from a craft Cd. So if you like colouring stamped images or digis you can still enter the challenge but you must include something from a CD such as a backing paper, a sentiment or a butterfly for example. In your blog post/Facebook entry you must give the name of the CD you've used. This is important if the items you've used can be bought as a download as well as a CD as the Design team can't tell which has been used unless you tell us.

We now have a Facebook page if you don't have a blog - The CD Sunday Challenge.

Trellis effect birthday card

A blog post that's not related to CD Sunday LOL!

I made this card for my niece’s birthday. It was a nightmare to make and she didn’t receive it until 4 days after her birthday – although Royal Mail added one of those days by not delivering it the day after it was posted!

I’d seen an advert in several craft magazines of a card made with a set of dies and wanted to put my spin on it.

I already had the base dies – Card Builder Die Set and Card Builder Panel Die Set by Paper Discovery (bought from Craft Stash).

I spent a whole day cutting these dies from various weights of card and using different machines. I eventually gave up around 11 at night and tried again the next day! The main problem was that there are 2 dies to each panel – the outer edge and then the fancy cut out design. It didn’t matter which I cut first but the pressure in the machines would make the dies move and ruin the cut.

In the end I used 180 gsm pearl card from Ross Papercrafts which worked perfectly.

I covered a cream card base with Tonic Craft Perfect in Cherry Red then layered the first die cut over it.

The top layer is two separate pieces of card - one is a frame with a fancy edge and that is glued over a second, larger layer that has the trellis effect cut out of the middle and plain card around the outside. These are then put on foam tape to lift them up and where the sentiment and flowers are I put more foam tape underneath so it was supporting them but hidden from view.

The sentiment is from Tonic Studios – Sentiment Strip die.

I finished off with flowers that I’ve had in my stash ages bought from a craft show that used to be in Cardiff football stadium, they’re from Craft Fairy but I don’t know if they still trade.

I added 3 drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops (Autumn Red) in two of the corners.

Anything Goes #10 - CD Sunday

A very simple and quick card for the CD Sunday Challenge. The theme is Anything Goes but you must use something printed from a craft CD.  The CD Sunday Challenge is about making items using something printed from a craft CD Rom. You can use other craft items on your card/project, such as a stamp or die, but you must include something from a craft Cd. So if you like colouring stamped images or digis you can still enter the challenge but you must include something from a CD such as a backing paper, a sentiment or a butterfly for example. This is important if the items you've used can be bought as a download as well as a CD as the Design team can't tell which has been used unless you tell us.

The image is from the Magical Winter CD (part one) by Polkadoodles. It's quite an old CD - 2011. I printed straight onto an A4 piece of card stock - Pearlised Antique Lace from Limetree Crafts. Folded the card in half to make an A5 card. And highlighted areas with a sparkle pen - the igloo, fish and snow on the sign post.
Don't worry if you don't have a blog you can post a photo of your make on the  The CD Sunday Challenge Facebook page.
